Elevate Handling have been chosen as the learning and consulting partner of Five Mobility. With this in mind we wanted to create a new approach to bariatric handling. This new Course has been created to help clinicians gain an understand of the challenges and provide them with a best practice tool kit.
The course is outlined as follows:
Patient handling training covers the law, risk assessments, body shapes, and complex handling techniques.
The workshop is tailored to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for managing the handling of bariatric patients. Equipping those who attend with an understanding of body shape and dynamics and how body shape rather than weight can impact manual handling.
It focuses on practical experience with relevant equipment, (hoists, beds, slings, air-assisted lateral transfer) ensuring attendees are not only adept in using these tools but also competent in instructing others safely.
The workshop also integrates key topics such as legal requirements and the use of specialised risk assessment, vital for proficient care in this specialised field.
All participants will have passed or undertaken a course in patient handling and should have a working knowledge of MHOR (Manual Handling Regulations 1992 ((As Amended))) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) or Equivalent Skills for Life Level 2 as set out in Skills for health Framework for learning.
